About the Music Centre

Centre for Music in Kraków

the new musical pulse of Kraków

The Centre for Music in Kraków is a space created with music in mind — a place pulsating with sound and inspiration. We combine top-quality acoustics with forward- thinking architecture, creating an open stage for artists and audiences alike.

It is a home of music and community — active throughout the day, not only during concerts. Created in the spirit of the Urban Living Room concept — a place that’s close, welcoming, and part of everyday life. A place you’ll want to return to.

Who are we for?

For music lovers and first-timers. For creators and audiences. For those seeking emotion — and those who want to co-create it.

The Centre for Music in Kraków is a place of encounter — with sound, with others, and with oneself.

It’s a shared space — for listening, creating, discovering, and sharing music.

We design our programme with diversity and quality in mind, blending tradition with modernity, concerts with education, local activities with international projects. We believe that music is for anyone who wants to listen — or ask it a question.

Meet our team

Two resident orchestras form the heart of the Centre for Music in Kraków — Capella Cracoviensis and Sinfonietta Cracovia. They set the rhythm of the space, filling it with sound, energy, and passion.

The soul of the building is its exceptional acoustics. Designed for perfect sound, they make every concert a memorable experience.

Meet our orchestras

The idea to create a modern centre dedicated to music matured over many years. The Centre for Music in Kraków is the result of an ambitious vision, the involvement of many communities, and a carefully planned design process. From the first sketches to the final equipment — every step aimed at creating a place where music can truly resonate.

Architecture with a view

The modern, minimalist form of the Centre for Music in Kraków was designed for harmony between form, function, and sound.

The main concert hall is located below ground level, giving it a unique acoustic and architectural character. The view from the glazed foyer and the café terrace stretches over the Błonia meadows, Wawel Castle, and Kraków’s Old Town — changing with the weather, time of day, and season.

With over 13,000 m² of usable space, the building includes:

  • Concert hall with 1,033 seats, a stage for 120 musicians, and a balcony for an 82-person choir
  • Auditorium with 280 seats and a stage for 50 performers
  • Capella Cracoviensis studio with 300 seats and a stage for 50 musicians
  • Sinfonietta Cracovia studio with 254 seats and a stage for 50 musicians
  • Educational chamber hall for 50 people (Fundacja Room)
  • Foyer with a food & beverage zone — restaurant and bistro
  • Terrace, relaxation zones, and open green areas

Architectural design: Jarosław Kutniowski, Marek Dunikowski, Aleksandra Dzienniak, Mateusz Dudek (BE Architekci Kraków)
Acoustics: BBM Müller, Germany (Prof. Karlheinz Müller, Petra Nies)

The Centre for Music in Kraków is a space for integration — it connects, inspires, and develops potential, offering unique experiences in harmony with local culture and a diversity of styles.

We aim to be a leading venue that connects Kraków’s traditions with modernity, nature, and innovation. A place that leaves a unique impression in the hearts of its visitors.

By implementing the goals of the Kraków Development Strategy and the Cultural Development Programme 2030, we are creating a space:

  • For the headquarters of municipal orchestras
  • For classical, contemporary, jazz, and experimental music
  • For festivals, education, and social cooperation
  • For creatively using heritage and building Kraków’s brand as a cultural capital
